Background
On its website, project proponent Dr. RKP Power said it has identified land for acquisition and has engaged a consultant to prepare an environmental assessment and apply for a Terms of Reference from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, the first stage in permitting.[1]
In 2014 it was reported the company had completed a public hearing for the 120 MW plant, and applied for environmental clearance from the Union ministry of environment and forests.[2] Activists say the pubic hearing should be redone because residents that would be affected by the plant were kept away.[3]
With no updates since January 2014, the project appears to be deferred or abandoned.
