Background
The plant is owned and operated 100% by the German company, Dykerhoff, which merged with US Company Buzzi Unicem in 2004, who proceeded to acquire 100% ownership of Dykerhoff in 2013. The plant announced in 2024 a planned carbon capture and storage project to be operational in 2029. The project will cost an initial investment of €350m and has a projected carbon capture capacity of 620,000t/yr of CO2.
