Background

One coal-fired unit of 80 MW was retired at the power station in 2006. In 2021, Ignis announced plans to develop a total of 482 MW of renewable energy together with the combined cycle plant, which would be formed as follows:

  • North wind generation module made up of 33 wind turbines of 6 MW of unit power (nominal power = 198 MW)
  • South wind generation module: made up of 14 wind turbines of 6 MW of unit power (nominal power = 84 MW)
  • North photovoltaic generation module made up of photovoltaic modules mounted on single axis trackers (nominal power = 160 MW)
  • South photovoltaic generation module made up of photovoltaic modules mounted on single axis trackers (nominal power = 40 MW)[9]
