Background
According to Freeport LNG's official website Michael Smith owns approximately 63% of the company.[4] Michael Smith holds limited partnership in Freeport LNG through Freeport LNG Investments, LLLP.[5] According to a notification submitted to the Office of Fossil Energy, Department of Energy, US, Freeport LNG Investments, LLLP holds 63.5% and Osaka Gas holds 10.8% indirect ownership interests in Freeport LNG.[6] The U.S. FERC in October 2022 approved the request for extension of the Freeport LNG's Fourth train expansion project until August 2028 on the Upper Texas Coast.[3][7]
