San Fernando Gas Pipeline, also known as Gasoducto de Tamaulipas, is a natural gas pipeline in the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Location

The pipeline runs north-south through Tamaulipas state, starting near the United States border at the El Caracol compression station in Reynosa, and continuing south 114km to Los Indios compression station near San Fernando.

Background

Gasoducto San Fernando, which feeds into Mexico’s SNG national pipeline network, began commercial operations in November 2003. Gasoductos de Chihuahua holds the operations and maintenance contract for the pipeline, which was built by Italo-Argentine firm Techint.

Technical specifications

The pipeline is 114 kilometers (71 miles) in length, with a diameter of 36 inches. Its capacity is 1.46 billion cubic feet of gas per day, or 15.09 billion cubic meters per year.
