Background
In 1919-2020, the Gazli-Kagan Gas Pipeline I and II were upgraded, and 720-mm pipelines were substituted with 1020-mm pipelines on the section 27-78 km.[5]
In November 2022, the construction of the fourth segment of the pipeline was still ongoing.[3] As of August 2024, there have not been any updates about the project.
Environment and social impacts
A group of women blocked a road in the Bukhara region in 2021 to demand the supply of gas to their homes from the pipeline under construction. They currently use liquefied gas cylinders.[9]
