Background
Gentry Mountain Mine No. 4, formerly know as the Castle Valley Mine No. 4 and Bear Canyon Mine No. 4 is an operating underground mine in Huntington, Emery County, Utah.[2] Gentry Mountain Mine No.4 was opened by the C.W. Mining Company in 1997 as the Bear Canyon Mine No. 4 with the MSHA id 4202263.[2][3] After C.W. Mining Company declared bankruptcy in 2010,[4], the mine was acquired by Castle Valley Mining LLC[5] and renamed Castle Valley Mine No.4. In 2020, Gentry Mountain Mine No. 4 acquired the mine from Castle Valley Mining LLC, and once again renamed the mine as Gentry Mountain Mine No. 4.[6]
The mine has been non-productive since the second quarter of 2020. In 2019, it produced 0.4 million short tons, and had 39 employees.[2]
