Gobi Coal

Gobi Coal and Energy is a coking coal producer based in Mongolia. Gobi Coal owns 100% of three open cut coal development projects in southwestern Mongolia, containing approximately 95 million tonnes of reserves,[1] which it supplies to clients in western and northeastern China.
Its owners include Beijing-based private- equity firm Origo Partners.[2]
Coal Projects
The company website lists the following projects:[3]
- The Company's Shinejinst project is expected to begin initial production in late 2011, and contains approximately 95 million tonnes of reserves, producing approximately 5 million tonnes per annum of coking coal.
- The Company's Zeegt project contains 93 million tonnes of resources, and is expected to begin production in 2014, with 3 million tonnes per annum of coking coal.
- Khurren Gol is an exploration project with close to 200,000 hectares of tenements in a coking coal region.
