Background

In April 2023, Golar LNG announced that it had signed a heads of agreement (HOA) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the development of a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility at one of Nigeria's offshore gas fields.[1] The MOU has a 5-year duration. Golar could potentially deploy the FLNG Hilli following the end of its current contract in mid-2026 or a MKII FLNG.[4]

In June 2024, LNG Prime reported that NNPC and Golar LNG signed a Project Development Agreement (PDA), and planned to take a final investment decision (FID) on the project in 2024.[3]
