Background

In 2019 Fluor was awarded the EPC contract for Ineos's new cogeneration plant (unit NEP, or New Energy Plant).[11] Once operational the plant will replace the power and steam provided by 40+ year old units B and C.[12] It is sited adjacent (directly west) of the existing unit 1.[13]

Ineos has also announced plans to build a "New Energy Plant" of 35 MW, which will be hydrogen-ready and have a carbon-capture-and-storage attachment.[14] However, in June, 2022, INEOS announced that plans for the New Energy Plant were shelved due to "challenges" facing the project.[15]
