Background

The Graspan Colliery is an opencast coal mine included in Glencore's Middelburg Complex (MBO) in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Graspan mine was previously owned and operated by Shanduka Coal.[4]

In 2020, the Graspan mine was put on care and maintenance in response to COVID-19.[5]

Graspan's mining rights were recently renewed and are now valid until 2029. The mine, and its reporting information, have been absorbed into the Middelburg Complex (MBO).[6]
