Background

Green Steel of WA announced their plans to build a 2.5 mtpa green hydrogen-based direct reduced iron (DRI) plant mill in mid-west Australian. The plant is based on hydrogen DRI technology that can operate on both green hydrogen as well as natural gas, seamlessly transitioning between the two. The project is expected to take a final investment decision in late 2024 with operations beginning in 2027.[1]
