Background
In March 2024, NLC India and state-owned Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form a joint venture (JV) and establish a 125 MW pit-head lignite power station in the Bikaner district. The proposal also included a 1000 MW solar plant.[4][5]
According to an investment report for NLC India published in July 2024, the coal plant would be located in Gurha.[6]
In August 2024, the board of NLC India approved the JV with RVUNL to set up the coal plant. NLC India would reportedly own 74% of the JV and RVUNL would own 26%.[7]
