Background
In March 2024, NLC India and state-owned Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form a joint venture (JV) and establish a 125 MW pit-head lignite power station in the Bikaner district. The proposal also included a 1000 MW solar plant.[4][5]
According to an investment report for NLC India published in July 2024, the coal plant would be located in Gurha.[6]
As of December 2024, an NLC India webpage on “Upcoming Projects” listed the proposed 125 MW Gurha coal plant and associated 1000 MW solar park under “New Solar Projects”. Formation of the joint venture between NLC India and RUVNL was “under progress”.[7]
