Background

In September 2019 H-Energy reached an agreement with the Port of Kakinada to build the FSRU.[5]

In July 2021, the Andhra Pradesh government granted permission to the State’s maritime board to issue a comfort letter (assuring the financial soundness of the recipient) to East Coast Concessions for building the ₹1,600 crore import terminal.[4]

As of July 2023, the terminal was still expected to be commissioned by mid-2024.[6]

As of June 2024, the terminal was still expected to be commissioned by mid-2024, according to the company website.[1] However, the 2024 IGU report, released the same month, says that the project is under construction and expected to be completed in 2026.[3]
