Background

This project consists of two parts. The SmartSwitch project seeks to inject 10% hydrogen into the current gas transmission system, and involves only the conversion of gas pipelines by 2030.

The second involves the construction of several new and converted hydrogen pipelines across Bulgaria including the following:

Sofia-Petrich (2027):

Sofia-Oltenia (2040):

Oltenia-Kozloduy (2040):

Kulata-Ruse (2029):

This project is included in the H2inframap, which displays a collection of hydrogen-related projects across Europe.[1]
