The Mostafa Hakim Group– whose businesses include ship breaking, cement, auto bricks, oxygen, real estate, liquefied petroleum gas, textiles, jute, import and distribution – has been involved in the steel manufacturing business since 1984. The company established its first steel plant, Golden Iron Works Limited, in 1984 and later another plant named Golden Steel Alloy Works Limited was set up in 1987. Both are semi-automatic mills.[1]
In 2017, Mostafa Hakim Group established Golden Ispat Ltd as a rebar manufacturer. The group set up its first plant at Kumira in Chattogram, which has the capacity to manufacture 800 metric tonnes of MS bar daily under the brand name “Golden Ispat”.[1]
HM Steel and Industry Limited, the second unit of Golden Ispat's steel plant, officially started its production on 06 March 2021. The plant has a capacity to produce 1200 tonnes of steel products every day.[2] The construction of the project began in 2019 and was delayed by the pandemic.[3]
