Background

Hanz was discovered in 1997 and its plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved in 2013. According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD), its status has been "approved for production" since 2013.[7]

Hanz is a part of the Ivar Aasen oil and gas field PDO[8] as it is planned to be developed with subsea templates tied-back to Ivar Aasen.[7]

In 2018, Anker BP, the project operator, completed an investigation into potential additional resources within the field. Results showed estimates remaining within the range of uncertainty of the initial estimate.[8]

As of February 2021, the most recent update on NPD's website for Hanz was from February 2020 which stated the "development schedule for production start-up depends on available processing capacities on Ivar Aasen."[9]
