Haryana Power Generation Company is a Haryana government-owned utility with responsibility for the generation of electricity in the state.
Existing coal-fired power stations
- Panipat power station, a 1,368 megawatt power station located in Assan village, Panipat.[1]
- Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant Project, a 600MW power station in Yamunanagar which was commissioned in the first half of 2008.[2]
Coal projects under construction
- the Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Project, a 1200MW plant located in Khedar, Hisar. The project was commissioned in 2011.[3][4]
- the Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project, a 1500MW coal-fired power station currently under construction in Jhajjar. The first of the three 500MW units has been commissioned with the last one scheduled to be online in early 2012.The project, which is a joint venture between between NTPC (50%), Government of National Capital Territory (NCT) (25%), Delhi and the Government of Haryana (25%).[5]
- Mahatma Gandhi Thermal Power Project, a 1320MW coal based project at Jhajjar was the subject of a competitive tender bid. The contract was won by CLP Power India with 5.21 million tonnes per annum of coal allocated for the project from CCL.[5]
- Haryana Power Generation Company has also identified the construction of an additional 660 MW at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant.[6]
