Background

Yongcheng power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 630 MW.[1] The plant was completed in 2005, and is owned by Yongcheng Mine Group.[2][3] An additional 2,000 MW of coal capacity is under development.

New Project

A new project was listed in Yongcheng City's 14th Five-Year plan.[4][5]

The project was permitted November 3, 2022.[6] Construction reportedly began December 29, 2022.[7]

The project was so rushed that based on available information, it was hard to tell if it was being built at the same site or if the project was a relocation. There is a possibility the older 2 x 315 MW could be shut down to make room for the new one.[8]
