Background

Saibu Gas had originally announced plans to develop the project in 2014, however, no concrete actions were taken at that time. In 2021, Saibu Gas and Kyushu Electric Power Co Inc. announced that they plan to revive the project and would now work on a detailed study.[9]

Planned to start commercial operations in 2026, the power plant will be supplied by regasified LNG from the Hibiki LNG Terminal.[10]
