Background

The facility is owned by Horizon Mining LTD, a company of Horizon Kinetics, and has a total capacity of 31 MW.^[1] It is unclear how much of the 31 MW is currently energized, and how much mining capacity is conducted for Horizon Mining or for third party clients. However, in May of 2022, it was announced that Bit Origin, a company owned by China Xiangtai Food Co., Ltd, had secured 6.1 MW for hosting of its mining rigs.^[2] Bit Origin had also sought an additional 9.49 MW as part of its new partnership with Horizon.^[3]

The project is located at the Georgia Center for Innovation and Manufacturing, a strategic arm of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and a provider of a wide range of services and programs to businesses of all types and sizes.^[4]
