Background

Huaneng Taicang power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,900 MW. The plant was completed between 2000 and 2006, and is owned by Huaneng.[7]

Expansion

In September 2022, the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued a public announcement regarding a 2 x 1,000 MW expansion.[8] In October 2022, details about Phase III were publicized.[9] On 28 October 2022, the 2 x 1,000 MW expansion was approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission (苏发改能源发〔2022〕1248号, portal update timestamp: 2023/01/16).[10]

First foundation square pillar was put into the ground on 28 July 2023 and pouring concrete was planned in September 2023.[11][12][13]
