Background

China Huaneng proposed 2 x 350 MW supercritical coal plant in Yangpu Economic Development Zone. The project was permitted in December 2015.[10]

In January 2018, the coal project was reported as suspended.[11] It was replaced by a proposed gas plant project.

A 990 MW natural gas power plant at the same location was under construction and expected to start operating in 2022.[12]
