Background

The two existing coal-fired units of Huolinhe power station, totaling 1,200 MW,[1] were completed in 2008. The plant was originally owned by CPI.[2]

Description of Expansion

CPI has proposed plans to build additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 1,200 MW[3] or 2,400 MW.[1]

With no developments since 2011, Phase II of Huolinhe appears to have been cancelled.[4]

Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[5]
