Background
According to a June 2014 article in the Jakarta Post, cement producer Semen Padang, a subsidiary of state-run Semen Indonesia, is considering building a 100 MW coal plant to provide power to its facilities in Padang, with construction expected to start in 2015. According to Semen Indonesia president director Dwi Soetjipto, the operation of Indarung VI, currently under construction is expected to raise electricity demand at the plant from 150 MW to 200 MW. If there is a surplus of power, it will enter the local grid.[1]
As of December 2018, with no reported progress in over four years, it appears that this project has been cancelled.
