Background
India Cements was established in 1946 and has build over eight plants in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and two grinding units in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra over the seven decades of its operations.[1][2] In December 2024, UltraTech acquired India Cement Limited.[3]
The Chilamakuru cement plant was established in 1984.[2] India Cements acquired the Chilamakuru plant from Coromandel Fertilisers in 1990.[1][4] The plant was upgraded to a capacity of 4500 tonnes per day in 2010.[4]
The raw material requirement to the cement plant is being met from the Captive mines located adjacent to cement plant in Chilamkur village over an extent of 602.137 Ha. The company is producing Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Portland Pozzolona Cement (PPC).[2]
