Background
The project, which is proposed by India Power Corporation, is scheduled to be commissioned in 2014-2015 with power to be sold to the Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB).[1]
The project was initially proposed in 2008 as a 1650 megawatt project, but in July 2010 was revised down to a 1320MW project comprising two 660MW units. In April 2011 the project was approved by the Bihar Cabinet.[2][3]
BSEB states that the acquisition of 1500 acres of land was set to commence after Cabinet approval of the project. It also states that the project will require 6.2 million tonnes a year of coal but does not mention if an allocation has been made. BSEB states that in June 2010 the Bihar Water Resources Department approved a water allocation of 62 Cusecs from the Gandak River.[1]
As of March 2015 the project is listed on the company website as planned,[4] but has not received environmental clearance, and appears to have been abandoned.
