Background

The Industriepark Höchst thermal power station supplies the Höchst industrial park with electrical energy and process heat.[13] The power plant is operated by Infraserv GmbH & Co. Höchst KG.[14]

Infraserv intends to phase out all coal-fired energy production from the station by 2022, and is developing plans to build two new gas-fired turbines of 88 MW each replace these plants.[15]

As of May 2022, the coal-firing unit was shut down. However, Infraserv was considering the idea of bringing the unit back to life due to energy security concerns in light of the war in Ukraine.[16]
