Background
Saudi Aramco considers Jafurah the "jewel of our unconventional gas program" as its the "the largest liquid-rich shale gas play in the Middle East."[20]
Upstream Technology called the project a "key component of Aramco’s strategy to ramp up unconventional gas output," in 2022, when Saudi Aramco approved a phased development of the field. According to the article, Saudia Aramco "expects more than $100 billion in total overall life-cycle investment at Jafurah."[6]
In 2020, Saudi Aramco said it "had received regulatory approval to develop Saudi Arabia's Jafurah non-associated gas field and expects production to start in early 2024."[21]
