Background

The Jhanjra coal mine is an underground mine, operated by Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India, producing 3.4 million tonnes per annum, in the Raniganj Coalfield in Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal, India.[7]

Jhanjra is the company's largest underground mine. In 2019, it accounted for 38% of all underground coal production by Eastern Coalfields Limited.[8] The Jhanjra coal mine is operated by Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India.
