Background

Jingke power station is a two unit coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 680 MW in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Unit 1 was completed in 2009 and put into operation in 2010. It is majority-owned by Inner Mongolia Yuanyuan Energy Co.[2][3][4]

Proposed expansion

Inner Mongolia Yuanyuan Energy Co. proposed adding two units of 660 MW each to the power station.[4]

In June 2017, the company was permitted to build one 350 MW supercritical unit,[5] suggesting Unit 3 had been cancelled.

Construction on Unit 2 started in May 2019.[6]

In May 2023, Unit 2 was connected to the grid.[7] In December 2023, Unit 2 completed its trial period and officially began operating.[8]
