Background
The two existing coal-fired units of Jingtai power station, totaling 1,320 MW, were brought online in 2009. The plant is owned by China Datang.[1]
Description of Expansion
The designed capacity for this power plant is 2*660MW+4*1000MW. There will be 3 phases to carry out all the capacity.[2][3] In 2014, the second phase with 2000MW was reported to have completed the preliminary feasibility study.[4][5] But no further news since then. The expansion project seems abandoned.
Ownership
In May 2020, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) began a pilot project which is allowing each of the five Central SOEs, central government-owned power giants presenting only in one province or autonomous region in 5 northwest provinces and autonomous regions. It is an effort by SASAC to improve the financial performance of the coal power companies in these 5 provinces and Autonomous regions. According to SASAC's arrangement, China Huaneng presents in Gansu. China Huadian leads Xinjiang. China Datang is in Shaanxi except those power companies belonging to China Energy Group. SPIC is in Qinghai. China Energy Group leads Ningxia. By the end of 2020, 10 coal power stations in Gansu have completed the transition.
Datang Jingtai power station transferred its ownership to China Huaneng in Februry 2021.
