Background

Unit 1 of 67.5 MW capacity began operation in 1996. Units 2-5 of 120 MW each began operating in 2000-2011. According to The Economic Times, Unit 5 would help provide power for the Tata Steel Jamshedpur steel plant.[1]

According to a coal sampling and analysis tender posted by Tata Power in 2021-2022, the power station still appeared to have four operational 120 MW units (Units 2-5) and one 67.5 MW unit.[2]
