Background

The export terminal would source crude oil from the Permian Basin, relying on the 675-mile Jupiter Pipeline from western Texas. As of 2018, RBN Energy reported the details of this pipeline were not solidified yet

The project includes about 10 million barrels of onshore crude oil storage at the Port of Brownsville. JOLT would be connected by two 24-inch pipelines capable of loading 1 million bpd. JOLT would have room to dock two VLCC (very large crude carriers) side-by-side for loading.

As of May 2022, there had been no evidence for further development of the project or the associated Jupiter Pipeline, and so it is considered cancelled.
