Background
In January 2020 PT Bika Global announced plans to build a 200-MW plant at the site of the proposed Tanah Kuning-Mangkupadi International Port Industrial Zone (KIPI) in Maloy Batuta Trans Kalimantan Economic Zone (MBTKEZ), East Kalimantan, Indonesia.[1] In December 2021, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the KIPI industrial park where the plant would be built.[2]
According to the article from January 2020, investors from South Korea are interested in the project.[1]
With no apparent news in over four years, the proposal was presumed to be cancelled in March 2024. Adaro Aluminum Smelter power station appeared to be the proposal moving forward to power the KIPI zone.
