Background
The Ruda coal mines are underground operations, owned by Polska Grupa Górnicza, PGG, producing 4.3 million tonnes per annum, in Silesian, Poland.[10]
The mines operating under the KWB Ruda branch include Bielszowice, Halemba-Wirek, Pokój.[11] The mines are operated by PGG.
In 2019 an earthquake resulted in the death of one miner at the Bielszowice coal mine. The earthquake caused damage to the underground section of the site. A further 17 miners were injured in the incident. [12]
