Background

This project is mentioned on Table 6.7 of the 2016-2025 PT PLN long range supply plan, scheduled for 2020. It comprises one unit of 200 MW.[1]

In August 2016 PT PLN said it would put the Kaltim-6 plant out for tender, with the selected Project Sponsor intended to develop, finance, construct and operate the Project on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis.[2]

In the 2017-2026 long-range plan the project is described as 2 x 100 MW rather than 2 x 200 MW and is scheduled for 2021/2022.[3] Elsewhere in the plan it is described as 1 x 200 MW.[4] In the 2018-2027 long-range plan it is described as 200 MW and scheduled for 2028/2029.[5] The project does not appear in the 2021-2030 long-range plan released in October 2021. As of June 2022, there has been no progress in more than four years, the project appears to be cancelled.
