Background
In January 2011, Konya Şeker (Konya Sugar, a subsidiary of Anadolu Birlik Holding) announced that it planned to build a $2 billion, 2,000 MW coal-fired power plant to power its sugar refining operations in Turkey's central Konya province.[1][2] More recent information on this project is not available. It seems possible that this project was superseded by both the larger Konya Karapinar power station project, and by Konya Şeker's purchase of the privatized Kangal power station in August 2013.[3][4]
