Background

The power station was initially comprised of a single steam turbine, but was upgraded to a combined cycle system with the inclusion of a Siemens' SGT-800 gas turbine. It now provides 129 MW of power. This turbine is capable of burning hydrogen as part of its fuel mix, and Stadtwerke Bonn has announced their intention to use up to 15% hydrogen by 2025.[5]
