Background
The Kenkiyak Oil and Gas field is connected by an oil pipeline to the refinery in Orsk (Zhanazhol-Kenkiyak-Orsk oil pipeline). The pipeline runs from the Kenkiyak oil pumping station via the Bestamak oil loading station in Kazakhstan to the Orsk Refinery in Russia. The capacity of the pipeline depends entirely on Russian quotas and the acceptance of crude oil by the refinery in Orsk. As of July 2022, there was no traffic on the Bestamak-Orsk pipeline. Several kilometers of the pipeline sections have been dismantled on both the Russian and Kazakhstani sides. However, the oil pumping stations and most of the equipment have been preserved, and the pipeline can be quickly put back into operation.[1]
As of March 2024, the Kenkiyak-Bestamak pipeline is operating.[2][3]
