Financing
- Source of financing: KEPCO and the Korean Development Bank
Background
In January 2012, Korea Electric Power Corp (KEPCO) announced an accord with Senegal for a 250 MW coal-fired power station at a cost of US$582.52 million. Under the agreement, KEPCO and the Korean Development Bank would have entirely financed the building of the plant but in return would have had the right to sell its energy output back to Senegal.[1][2] Operation was planned for 2017.[3]
After the agreement was signed, KEPCO said that it was abandoning most of its international projects, including the one in Senegal. The government said it was looking for a new partner to pick up where KEPCO left off.[2]
An August 2016 report on the 125 MW Sendou power station said the 250 MW KEPCO project had been called off.[4]
