Background

The construction of the pipeline was to be completed in 3 stages with 1/3 of construction works to be completed in 2020, 2021 and 2022.[1]

In 2018 designing of initial 35 kilometer section of the pipeline was underway. The subsequent sections were to be designed in 2019. Tender procedures to purchase the materials for the initial section were scheduled to begin in 2018-2019 and the construction was to, presumably, start in 2020.[1] According to the SoS Statement for Natural Gas published by Energy Community in 2020, the design work for stage 1 was to be complete in 2021, and the construction work to be competed in 2022-2024.[2]

As of August 23, there have not been updates about the project. The project is not listed on the website of Georgian Oil & Gas Corporation[3].
