Background
The Khuut Coal Mine is a surface coal mine, owned and operated by Buman-Olz LLC, in Dornod Province, Mongolia. The Khuut coal mine is a surface lignite coal mine owned and operated by the Mongolian-owned private company, Buman-Olz LLC. It produced 120,000 tons in 2017.[7][8]
Proposed Expansion
As of 2018, Buman-Olz LLC has plans to increase the mine's production to 7–10 million tons per year.[7] However, as of July 2022, without any project updates in the last 3-5 years, this expansion is presumably shelved.
The company has also found lithium and rare-earth minerals at the mine site.[9]
