Background
As of 2019, the power station includes three subcritical coal units of 135.3 MW each, two of which began operating in 2000, and the third in 2014[5]. Other coal units at the power station, with capacities 28 MW and 6.3 MW, were retired in 2014.
The power station also includes a gas-fired unit of 51 MW, which is currently only used to provide reserve power.[6]
Expansion
In 2011 construction began on a new 135 MW coal unit at the plant, known as K7, which went into operation in 2014. The new unit replaced the power station's first two units of 34.3 MW, which would no longer meet the new EU guidelines on CO2 emissions that came into force on January 1, 2016.[7] The unit co-fires with biomass.[8]
