Background
According to BOTAŞ Petroleum Pipeline Corporation, the state-owned crude oil and natural gas pipelines and trading company in Turkey, the pipeline was awarded in 3 sections as follows:
"The first section covering the Konya - İzmir Natural Gas Pipeline of 258 km total length was completed on May 13, 2005, the second section covering the İsparta – Nazilli Natural Gas Pipeline of 363 km total length was completed on November 15, 2005. The third section consisting of the Nazilli – İzmir Natural Gas Transmission Line of 244 km total length was awarded in sections. The contract was signed in August 7, 2006. In the first half of year 2007; a 227 km section of pipeline was completed, whereas through this pipeline natural gas was supplied to Aydın."[1]
