Kremenchuk-Anan'iv-Bohorodchany Gas Pipeline (Ukrainian: Кременчук — Ананьїв — Богородчани; Russian: газопровод Кременчуг-Ананьев-Богородчаны) is an operating natural gas pipeline in Ukraine.

Background

The Kremenchug Ananiev Pipeline is a part of the main gas transmission system in the Ukraine. The net book value of the pipeline is $77 million USD. Its got a diameter of 1.4 meters, 3 associated compressor stations, and a working pressure of 7.5 MPa.

Kremenchug-Ananiev (and its extension Ananiev-Izmail), which is the main transit route for Russian gas through Ukraine along the southern corridor to Moldova, partly Romania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey.

After Russia’s annexation of Crimea, Ukraine halted direct natural gas imports from Russia and replaced those imports with natural gas from European countries. Much of the natural gas imported from Europe, however, originates in Russia and travels into Ukraine through reverse flows from central and eastern European countries.

Newly completed TurkStream and nearly complete Nord Stream 2 pipelines are expected to replace pipeline systems that previously passed through Ukraine. The decrease in flows of Russia’s natural gas through Ukraine will likely diminish Ukraine’s critical role as a transit country for natural gas flows from Russia to Europe.

Considering the Russian plans to exclude Ukraine from the gas transit scheme as much as possible, in particular the Turkish Stream project, in the future the Kremenchuk — Ananyiv — Bogorodchany pipeline may also stop working in the southern direction of supplies. Therefore, in the fall of 2016, Naftogaz of Ukraine canceled the tender of PJSC Ukrtransgaz for the expensive reconstruction of the compressor stations on this route — Zadniprovska, Pivdennobuzka, and Ananyiv.

As of August 2022, the pipeline is presumed to be operating.
