Background
The Prime Minister inaugurated the plant with seven other newly constructed plants in Bangladesh. The plants included, Ghorashal power station, Kodda power station, Gazipur power station, Daudkandi power station, Fenchuganj power station, Noapara power station, Kamalaghat Mushiganj power station, and Siddhirganj power station.[9] The plants have a total generation capacity of 1742 MW.[9]
In 2017, the plant came online.[10][11]
In April 2018, the plant started commercial operations.[11] Kushiara Power Company Ltd. (KPCL) received the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) from Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for the supply of electricity generated from this power plant, which produces the power needed to supply about 200,000 homes.[12]
