Background
The power station is owned by Nippon Paper Kushiro Energy and is located in Hokkaido, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.[1] Its units were commissioned in 1986 and 2004.
Units 1 and 2 of the coal-fired, subcritical power station have 57 MW and 88 MW of capacity, respectively.[2][3]
Paper Mill
Nippon Paper Industries Kushiro Mill was a paper mill of Nippon Paper Industries located in Kushiro City, Hokkaido. Paper and pulp production ended on August 16, 2021 and was abolished on October 1, 2021. Nippon Paper Kushiro Energy Co., Ltd. (日本製紙釧路エネルギー株式会社), which handles coal-fired power generation, was established instead.[4][5][6]
