Background

Kutinsky Coal Mine (Кутинский разрез) is a SURFACE mine in Priargunsk, Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia. The Kutinsky coal mine is also known as Priargunsky coal mine. It is located very close to the Russian border with China.

The mine went bankrupt in 2017 but a settlement agreement was reached with the creditors in 2018.[4] In those years the mine was producing about 60 thousand tonnes of coal.[4]

Mosstroytrans stated on its website (accessed in October 2022) that it has signed an agreement to acquire the coal mine, which has reserves of 60 million tonnes and planned production of 1 Mtpa.[3] There were no updates to this information as of October 2023 or January 2025. Company databases as of October 2023 and 2024 state that 50% of Priargunsky Razrez LLC is owned by Mosstroytrans and 50% by SDS Holding.[5][6]

As of 2022, the mine produced about 0.5 million tonnes per annum and most is exported to China.[7] The company also planned expanding production to 1 million tonnes.[7] There were no other news on the mine or its expansion as of October 2023 or as of October 2024. However it was reported that in 2023, the mine's revenues increased threefold to USD 30 million.[8]
