Background

Kyzyl-Bulak Coal Mine is a surface mine in Kyzyl-Bulak, Osh Region, Kyrgyzstan.[2] Parity Coal LLC owns the mine, the mine began operating in 1993 and produces thermal, subbituminous coal.[3][4]

2013 is the most recent production figure of 0.479 million tonnes of coal.[4] A media article from 2022 referred to the production of over 0.5 million tonnes per annum from a mine operated by Parity Coal.[5] Parity Coal was also named as the one having contributed the most to the national budget among the coal producing companies in 2022.[6]

According to national statistical data, 0.87 million tonnes was produced in 2021 and 0.97 million tonnes in 2022 in the Osh region where the Kyzyk-Bulak coal mine is located.[7] It is not known whether this captures any other operating coal mines in the Osh region.
